How We Price Locksmith Work
Every job at Strongbox Lock & Safe Co. is priced on its own merits, off a free written estimate, before a single screw turns. No hourly rate ticking in the background. No plan to join, no tier to upgrade into, nothing to sign up for. You get a number in writing that covers the full scope of the work – that number is what you pay.
That model exists for a reason. This trade has a well-earned reputation for low-ball phone quotes that balloon once a tech is standing in your doorway. We built our pricing the opposite way. The price quoted is the price on the invoice. If something unexpected turns up mid-job, we stop, we tell you, and we write a new estimate before we touch anything else. You stay in control of the decision from start to finish.
What a Visit Actually Costs You to Find Out
Nothing. The estimate visit is free.
When we come out, a background-checked, uniformed technician – one who will show you ID at the door – looks at the actual lock, door, or situation in front of them. They’ll tell you what they see, what they’d do about it, and what that costs, all in writing. The whole conversation usually takes about fifteen minutes. At the end of it, you have a number on paper and the full right to say no. No pressure, no trip charge, no “well you already had us out here.” Calling us to find out what something costs is genuinely free.
When People Usually Call Us
After a move-in – whether it’s a house you just bought or a rental that turned over – rekeying the locks is the first sensible thing to do. You don’t know who has a copy of the old key. Most people know this, and most people still put it off for two or three weeks longer than they should.
Lockouts happen at night, in bad weather, and right before a holiday when you are already running late. That’s not a prediction; it’s just how this work falls. We answer every call with a live person, around the clock, including holidays, because those are exactly the moments when a voicemail tree is the wrong answer.
Rekeying also clusters around a lost key set, a broken relationship, a contractor who finished a job, or the week after something unsettling happens on the street. You don’t always need new hardware. Is the estimate really free?
Yes, completely. A technician comes out, evaluates the job, and gives you a written price. There’s no charge for that visit and no obligation to proceed. If you decide not to book the work, you owe us nothing.
Do you offer financing or a monthly plan?
No, and that’s deliberate. Every job is priced off a free written estimate – one clear number, one payment, done. No interest, no monthly obligation, nothing to track. We’ve found that a straight price in writing is simpler and fairer than any plan we’ve seen this trade offer.
Can I use more than one offer on the same visit?
One offer per household per visit. If you’re not sure which applies best to your job, mention it when you call – the person who answers can help you sort it out before we come out.
Does the price change once you’re on-site?
No. The written estimate is the price. If a technician finds something unexpected – a damaged frame behind the trim, a second lock that needs attention – they stop work, explain what they found, and write a new estimate before doing anything additional. You approve it or you don’t. Either way, you’re never handed a surprise on the invoice.
