Most days, the job is straightforward: you show up, you figure out what’s in front of you, and you fix it right. A sticky deadbolt, a rekey after a move-in, a lockout at 11 p.m. where somebody’s standing in the rain and genuinely glad to see you. The work is physical, it requires a steady head, and when you’re done you can point at something that works the way it’s supposed to. That’s the job. We’ve been doing it since 1984, and the reason Strongbox Lock & Safe Co. has stayed in communities across nine states is that we hire people who take that seriously.

Gil Navarro, owner at Strongbox, puts it plainly: “A lock is the one thing in your house you trust completely and never think about – until the day it fails you. We’re the people who make sure it doesn’t fail.” The crew we’re building reflects that. Steady, trained, and easy for a customer to trust the moment you pull up in a uniform and show your ID at the door.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Residential Locksmith Technician: Someone who can work through a lock problem methodically, communicate clearly with homeowners, and leave a job site cleaner than they found it.
  • Commercial Locksmith Technician: Someone comfortable with higher-security hardware, access control, and the pace of a business environment where a locked door costs more than an inconvenience.
  • Automotive Locksmith Technician: Someone with patience for precision work, good hands, and no interest in leaving a scratch on a car that wasn’t already there.
  • Lock Installer and Rekey Specialist: Someone who takes product quality seriously, knows the difference between a Schlage and a Kwikset beyond the packaging, and does a clean install every time.
  • Emergency Response Technician: Someone who is calm when the customer isn’t, moves efficiently without cutting corners, and understands that a 2 a.m. call is still a job that deserves full attention.
  • Dispatcher and Customer Service Representative: Someone who can talk a locked-out person off the ledge, price a job accurately over the phone, and make sure the technician and the customer are on the same page before anybody drives anywhere.

What We Offer

Real Training and a Path That Goes Somewhere

We don’t hand you a van and figure the rest out. Apprentices at Strongbox work alongside experienced technicians until the work is second nature, not just familiar. The path from apprentice to lead tech is a real one – people have walked it here, and they’re still with us.

Work You Can Stand Behind

Every job we do is backed by our 90-Day Done Right Promise – in writing, no arguing, no extra paperwork. That standard protects the customer, but it also means you’re never being asked to cut corners to close a job faster. When the work is done right, you don’t have to dread a callback. That’s a different feeling than working somewhere that just wants the ticket closed.

Local Crew, National Backing

Strongbox operates across 11 locations in nine states. That means there’s infrastructure behind you – training resources, supply relationships with manufacturers like Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Abloy, and Baldwin, and a brand that has been trusted in local communities for over 42 years. You work with a crew you’ll know by name, not a dispatch center that sees you as a number.

Steady Demand for People Who Do Good Work

Locks don’t go out of style. People move, businesses change their access needs, and lockouts happen regardless of what the economy is doing. The technicians who build a reputation in their community – showing up on time, pricing fairly, doing the job once instead of twice – are the ones who stay busy. We give you the foundation; the reputation you build is yours.

No Experience? Read This.

If you’ve spent years doing finish carpentry, HVAC installation, or any trade work that requires precise hands and a problem-solving mindset, more of what you know transfers than you’d expect. Lock work rewards the same things: reading a situation before you start, using the right tool for the specific job, and not forcing something that isn’t ready to move.

What we teach is the rest. Hardware knowledge, brand differences, technique for high-security cylinders, automotive entry methods, customer communication – all of it comes with time and with the people you’ll work alongside. The first months are structured. You’re not on your own at a job site before you’re ready. Gil has said more than once that the technicians he’d rather train from scratch are the ones who don’t have shortcuts to unlearn. If you’re good with your hands and you care about doing things properly, call us and tell us that.
