The part decides how long the repair lasts. Here is what we fit, and what the cheap version costs you later.
Lock Cylinders
The cylinder is the part your key turns and the part an intruder attacks. Everything built around it is really just housing.
We install cylinders with anti-pick pin stacks, hardened anti-drill inserts, and a restricted keyway so copies cannot be cut at a hardware kiosk.
A basic five-pin cylinder with standard drivers and a common keyway is what ships on most doors. It rakes open quickly, drills in seconds, and anyone can copy the key.
Deadbolts
Deadbolt grade is a real, measurable standard, set by cycle testing and by how much force the bolt takes before it fails.
We install Grade 1 deadbolts with a full one inch throw and a hardened insert in the bolt, tested to the highest cycle and impact levels in the standard.
Grade 3 residential deadbolts are the builder default. Shorter throw, softer bolt, lighter internals, and they are tested to a fraction of the same force.
Strike Plates
Most kicked-in doors do not fail at the lock. They fail at the jamb, where the strike plate is held by short screws in soft trim.
We fit reinforced box strike plates with three inch screws that reach the wall framing behind the jamb, so force spreads into the structure of the house.
The standard plate is thin stamped steel with short screws that bite only the trim. One solid kick splits the jamb and takes the entire lock with it.
Smart Locks
A smart lock is still a lock. The mechanical half underneath the keypad is what actually keeps the door shut.
We install smart locks built on a graded mechanical deadbolt, with a real key override, encrypted credentials and a low battery warning well before it dies.
Cheap keypad locks are built on plastic internals with an ungraded bolt. The keypad wears until the used digits are obvious, and a flat battery locks you out entirely.
Key Blanks
A duplicate key is only as accurate as the blank it was cut from. Bad blanks are the reason a brand new copy sticks in the lock.
We cut on nickel silver or brass blanks matched to the manufacturer specification, on a calibrated machine, and we test every key in the lock before we leave.
Thin aftermarket blanks cut on a worn machine come out off by enough to bind the pins. The key wears the lock, snaps in the cylinder, or simply stops turning.
