Join Our Team

Most mornings start with a call that came in overnight. A family locked out. A business owner who can’t open up. A rekey that has to happen before a new tenant moves in at noon. You load the van, check your kit, and go take care of it. The work is real, it’s physical, and when you leave a job, the door locks. That’s it. No follow-up emails, no dashboards, no wondering if you actually helped someone. You did or you didn’t, and with the way we run jobs, it’s almost always the former.

Strongbox Lock & Safe Co. has been doing this since 1984. We operate with local crews across 35 states, every one of them held to the same standard: flat price quoted before any work starts, technicians who show ID at the door, and a 90-Day Done Right Promise that’s backed in writing. When you work here, you’re backed by that same standard. Your name is on the job. We act like it.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Residential Locksmith Technician – Someone who can read a door, pick the right hardware, and explain the job to a homeowner in plain language without talking down to them.
  • Commercial Locksmith Technician – A tech comfortable with master key systems, high-security cylinders, and the kind of hardware you find in office buildings, multi-family properties, and retail – Medeco, Mul-T-Lock, Sargent, Abloy.
  • Automotive Locksmith – A problem-solver who’s patient with transponders, comfortable with late-model vehicles, and doesn’t panic when a lockout happens in a parking garage at 11 p.m.
  • Lock Installer and Rekey Specialist – Someone with steady hands and a methodical approach; the person who takes pride in a strike plate that lines up perfectly the first time.
  • Emergency Response Technician – Cool under pressure, fast to deploy, and good at reassuring a customer who’s been standing on their porch for an hour before you arrive.
  • Dispatcher and Customer Service – A clear communicator who can gather information quickly, give an honest timeframe, and represent the company the way we answer the phone: a live person, every time, no voicemail trees.

What We Offer

A Real Path, Not a Vague Promise

We bring apprentices in and train them the right way – in the field, alongside experienced techs, on real jobs. The path from apprentice to lead technician is structured and honest. You’ll know what’s expected at each stage, and you’ll build the kind of skill set that doesn’t disappear when the industry changes.

Work You Can Stand Behind

Because we quote a flat price before any work starts, you’re never put in the position of upselling a customer or padding a bill. The job is the job. You do it right, you’re done. Our 90-Day Done Right Promise means every job you complete is guaranteed in writing – which also means you’re expected to do it right the first time, and we’ll support you in doing exactly that.

A National Brand With a Local Crew

You’ll work with people in your area, hired locally, who know the neighborhoods and the customers. Behind that local crew is the infrastructure of a company operating across 35 states – training resources, dispatch support, and backing from the Keystone family. You get the feel of a local shop with the stability of something larger.

Steady Demand, Year Round

Locks don’t go out of fashion. People get locked out in January and July. Businesses rekey after a turnover on a Tuesday in March. Because we run residential, commercial, and automotive services and answer calls 24/7, the work doesn’t bunch up and disappear. There’s a consistency here that’s harder to find in trades with more seasonal swings.

No Experience? Read This.

If you’ve worked a trade – plumbing, electrical, HVAC, auto repair – a good part of what makes someone good at this job is already built into how you think. Patience with a stuck mechanism. The habit of checking your work before you pack up. Not guessing when you should be measuring. Those things transfer directly.

What we teach: the hardware, the technique, and the systems. You’ll learn cylinders, deadbolts, high-security locks, automotive entry, and how to talk to a customer who’s frustrated before you’ve even arrived. The first months are hands-on, working alongside a technician who’s done the job long enough to know what actually goes wrong and why.

We’ve hired people from construction, the military, and retail auto service who became solid technicians. The trade takes patience and a willingness to keep learning. If you have that, we can work with the rest.
